Hallo allemaal,
(hopelijk is engels geen probleem hier  Wink )

I'm having a problem with my MSI P55-GD65 motherboard:
I am running XP without any problems. Then after a month I installed Windows 7 Ultimate next to it.

Windows 7 has serious ntfs-errors! Every second boot (or more often) I have to run chkdsk. The failiors seems to appear when 7 is running and I open a program like Outlook (for instance) . It says it cannot find the .OST file, displays an ntfs error and stops Outlook. This happens with almost all programs. Windows seems running fine, though...

I'm running the GD65 in 'failsafe' mode
i5 processor
4mB Kingston value ram
XP and WIN7 are installed on the bootdisk, a new WD Raptor (74Gb)
there is a second HD (320 Gb) for data

What I did:
tested the memory, no problems.
Updated from bios 1.6 to 1.7, no change.
Updated the chipset drivers (from MSI site), no change.

To me it seems a driver problem because XP is running ok. What should I do?

Greetings from a rainy Amsterdam,
Basilio

Taking this topic into account, I think there something wrong with either the SATA driver or the harddisk itself, althought the last seems unlogical.

The error you discribe in the topic on the MSI forums clearly tells us that the FAT (File Allocation Table) seems messed up. Only one thing you can do about that... a low level format of the entire harddisk.
This will also rebuild the entire FAT and might solve the error, however it's not totally impossible that the harddisk itself is actually damaged.
